Statement

Our mission is to help all kids grow as artists, innovators, and explorers by providing an environment dedicated to the spirit of adventure and discovery.

We encourage empathy, work towards sustainability, and structure our staff, programs, and exhibits in such a way that families feel welcome and included in a safe, educational, and inspiring space. All of this is with an eye on continuing to be relevant to our community and visitors, now and in the future.

A!CM’s founders, board, and staff are committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive environment that is led by empathy. We respect and nurture curiosity, play, and education without exclusion. Visitors, staff, board members, and volunteers are all welcome regardless of nation of origin, race, ethnicity, citizenship status, economic condition, gender identity, ability, language, or religion. Our exhibit hall of 15,000 square feet features over 40 interactive, educational exhibits for families and their children to explore. The inspiration for the museum stemmed from a group of parents who wanted to create safe environments of respite and play for their children in a community that was lacking those spaces. What started as a mobile museum, with mini traveling exhibits at events around Lane County, quickly evolved into a brick-and-mortar spot welcoming over 90,000 visitors annually.

Join us on our expedition to early childhood, play-based education for all!
