San Diego Museum Month offers residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy half-priced admission to more than 40 museums in the San Diego area, including The New Children’s Museum, during the entire month of February! This year, Museum Month is celebrating its 30th anniversary as a signature program of the San Diego Museum Council (SDMC). It’s become one of the most successful month-long arts and culture outreach events in the country! In order to participate in Museum Month, you will need a Museum Month pass.
Where are the Museum Month passes available?
A Museum Month pass is free and can be picked up at more than 80 local libraries in San Diego! A list of participating libraries is available on the SDMC website. Tip: Stop by the San Diego Central Library on your way to The New Children’s Museum to quickly grab a pass. Out-of-towners can also get a pass by booking a stay at any participating Hilton in San Diego during the month of February. The Hilton San Diego Gaslamp Quarter is only a 5-minute walk down the road from the Museum!
Each pass admits up to four people (child or adult) at half-price and can be used an unlimited number of times throughout February. When visiting the Museum, show your pass to the Welcome Desk and you’ll be entered to win a Level One membership! A winner will be picked every week in February.
What’s new in February at The New Children’s Museum?
With half-price admission to the Museum, families not only get all-day access to all exhibits and installations, but also to this month’s workshops. In Innovators LAB build a Scribble Bot, machines that draw a unique design using circuits and motors! Or make a clay heart sculpture for a loved one in our Clay Studio! Workshop days and times can be found on our website.
On February 15, join us for our Celebrating Black History Month Pop Up Workshop hosted by the Mingei International Museum in our Innovators LAB. Inspired by the bold quilts created in African American communities in the Southern United States, experiment with colorful recycled fabrics and embroidery thread to craft an abstract quilt.
Plus, join us every Friday morning at 10am for Toddler Time! Our toddler program provides fun activities that engage little ones through finger painting, making music and story time.
See you in February!
