Explore Our Exhibits
The Art Lab is a staple for visitors! Over the years, we’ve created hundreds of crafts for families to create, and supplied thousands of coloring sheets to decorate and take home. Most of the materials we use are recycled or donated, and visitors are so creative with what they make! In the Art Lab, visitors can explore:
coloring sheets for seasonal and cultural celebrations;
painting with water station;
four to five projects with all materials included and step-by-step instructions;
shelves to display your artwork and crafts; and
a Tonie box station with a wide selection of Tonie stories to listen to while you create.
BONUS: Throughout 2025, visitors were able to color a 1-inch square in shades of green or brown to contribute to our giant mosaic mural of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Over the year, Visitor Services Manager Asher placed each square onto a frame, and the completed mural is proudly displayed in our Art Lab alongside Dream Mobiles with visitors’ dreams for a more sustainable, equitable future. Thank you to everyone who contributed a square to this mural, highlighting how even small contributions can make a difference.

How does the Art Lab support play-based education?
“By providing immersive, hands-on experiences that promote play, exploration, and collaboration, children’s museums empower children to become lifelong learners and engaged citizens.”
