Our mission at Adventure! is to create an environment dedicated to the spirit of adventure, and to help kids grow as artists, explorers, and innovators. Pursuant to this mission, Adventure! has a well-earned reputation for cleanliness and for helping families stay safe and healthy. Your childrens’ safety and health informs everything we do. As a nonprofit organization rather than a for-profit business, we have the flexibility here to make decisions that purely benefit your children and our mission, rather than making decisions that turn a profit. That’s okay with us. We want you safe, and we want to be here for you as you seek respite and fun this summer.
Our Commitment to Health and Safety: Our staff is dedicated to helping your family stay healthy and play safely. We regularly clean Adventure!’s surfaces multiple times per day using a variety of cleaning and sanitizing products, and we sanitize high-use items several times per day. With concerns regarding the coronavirus pandemic, upon reopening we will be scheduling limited-admissions play appointments throughout the summer, and exchanging all exhibit props and costumes between each appointment. As a result, the museum is cleaner than many other public places. We are working hard to keep your family safe.
How Our Visitors Can Play Their Part: You are the reason Adventure! exists, and we appreciate your help in keeping our museum at its best. Masks are required to enter the museum, for all persons over the age of 2, due to lobby size that makes 6 feet of distancing from staff impossible. Once inside, adults and teenagers must continue wearing their masks, properly positioned over mouths and noses. Children up to age 12 may remove their masks if they can maintain a distance of at least six feet from members of other groups. (State guidance regarding mask usage can be found here: https://sharedsystems.dhsoha.state.or.us/DHSForms/Served/le2288K.pdf) We will also be requiring shoe covers or non-slip socks while in the museum, since so many of our visitors play on or crawl on the floor. Please bring masks and non-slip socks with you for your play appointment. We will also have them available for purchase in the lobby.
For your safety, and the safety of others, kindly stay home if you or your child are experiencing a fever with cough, shortness of breath, or other flu-like symptoms. We will be checking temperatures at the gate. If a visitor appears noticeably ill with flu-like symptoms or has a fever of 100.4 or higher, they will be asked to return home for the well-being of all guests. Anyone who has had a positive test for Covid-19 should avoid visiting the museum until cleared by your doctor and Lane County Health. Coughs and sneezes should be caught in an elbow or tissue, and hands washed or sanitized. Thank you for helping us to maintain a clean and safe environment!
Hand-washing Guidelines: Adventure! has hand sanitizer dispensers posted in eight places throughout the museum. We are also adding six hand wipes stations in addition to our two bathroom hand wash stations, and we are opening our kitchen sink near the Art Lab for another opportunity for hand washing. We encourage visitors to sanitize their hands upon entering and exiting the museum. Hand-washing with soap and water is even more effective than hand sanitizer! We have restrooms on-site that are sanitized multiple times a day, and we welcome you to wash up whenever you need.
As director of Adventure!, my main goal upon reopening the museum is to ensure the health and safety of your family while providing opportunities to play and discover together. Our staff are also very aware of and committed to use of the museum as respite during stressful times. It is painful to be closed when we know how many in our community depend on us. If you have questions or concerns about anything, please don’t hesitate to email us at AdventureChildrensMuseum@gmail.com
